A Camalig Banker’s Run Towards the Podium
An ultramarathon entails testing one’s limits and running over 42 km; our colleague Romeo Manaog, known as Nior, showcased his remarkable strength and determination when he ran 80 km in the Mayon 360 Ultramarathon on 11 May 2024.
Nior, known in the office for his calm demeanor and strict adherence to discipline, embarked on this grueling journey, proving that no challenge is insurmountable. His podium finish solidified his reputation as one of the strongest in his group, but the journey was far from easy.
In the weeks leading up to the event, Nior rigorously trained, incorporating regular running and hiking into his routine. His dedication was well-known among us, and when we learned of his decision to participate in the race, support poured in from all corners.
The race day presented its own set of obstacles, testing Nior’s endurance at every turn. From navigating rocky trails to battling fatigue and muscle cramps, he encountered moments of doubt and exhaustion. Yet, fueled by determination, Nior pressed on, drawing strength from the unwavering support of fellow runners, colleagues, and spectators. As the miles passed and the finish line drew nearer, Nior’s resolve only strengthened. Finally, after hours of relentless effort, Nior crossed the finish line, his face etched with exhaustion and exhilaration.
While Nior may have claimed 6th place in the Mayon 360 Ultramarathon, his feat is a victory in itself – a reminder that with unwavering determination, anything is possible.
