New Check Format

The Philippine Clearing House Corporation (PCHC), in its Memo Circular no. 3738 dated 17 January 2023 will implement the new check design standards and specifications, as follows:
1. Effectivity: May 1, 2024
2. Format:
2.1 Standard Month-Day-Year format (MM-DD-YYYY) for the date, supported by date format guide below date line and box for each of the MM-DD-YYYY letters.
2.2 Peso (₱) sign moved out of the Amount in Figures box (placed before the box).
2.3 Boxed Signature/s Line.

3. Exceptions
Checks with an alphanumeric format can still be accepted should they meet the following qualifications:
3.1 Post-dated checks (PDCs)
3.1.1 accepted or stamped “Warehoused” by banks prior to May 2, 2024
3.1.2 PDCs without the “Warehoused” stamp but bearing or printed with “Unique Identification Code” (UIC) which indicates that these have been received by banks prior to February 1, 2019.
3.2 Manager’s Check to Cashier’s Check issued by the clearing banks with the waiver statement and the features required prior to the issuance of new check design standards and specifications.
Old format checks (without boxes on date, amount in figures, & signature line) with date of issue written in alphanumeric are still acceptable for clearing provided they are dated April 30, 2024 or earlier.
